Random ramblings from a bored Meow
How's the day going for you all? Mine? Not bad, actually. Best Tuesday sales-wise since I opened. Go figure. How were your weekends? Mine was a blur. Oh, no, I remember now: I had to (reluctantly) take a muscle relaxant for my neck and shoulder pain Saturday night because 4 Advil twice a day wasn't helping at ALL, and I didn't wake up until 11:30am on Sunday. I open the store at 10 on Sundays. I didn't get in until 12:15pm. OOPS. But it did wonders for the pain. Two weeks later and finally it's a little bit better! I just love getting rear-ended.
How badly I wanted snow today!!! Instead, I get blue skies and sun??? How is it that in the 21st century, weather forecasters are so chronically WRONG?!?!? I wanted to be closed, because I haven't had a day off in two weeks and I need one. Yesterday was another gift fair for J (she is a natural at these!) and I pulled in another $100, which I was happy about, but I am tired and look forward to next Monday's day off.
We got our Christmas tree Sunday afternoon after I closed. We went to a tree farm. Don't know about you, but we didn't grasp the idea of a tree farm right away. Until Brian went to the worker and said, "Okay, we're all set." And the guy said, "Get a saw and start cutting." Ohhhhh....so THAT'S a tree farm...I've been spoiled with the VFW's perfectly-cut trees! We started to put it up last night. "Started" being the operative word. It took us an hour and 45 minutes to A.) Give the tree a serious hair-cut and B.) Get the lights on because half were broken (damn Wal-Mart!) and so we had to improvise with the ones we had left. Cue "The 12 Pains of Christmas." By 9:15 we were too tired to continue, so tonight we are finishing decorating. Maybe we'll post pictures if we get it decoratd by Christmas.
And then we were woken up before dawn by the insistent and oh-so-repetitive gnawing by a little RODENT in our bedroom wall....And then the rolling of a nut all through the walls at said-ungodly hour. We have an exterminator coming on Friday.
Anyway, that is the fun and excitement that is my life today!

Sorry to hear about your neck pain...I hope it's better.
We also cut down our own tree yesterday and put it up too...but I'm sure ours is A LOT smaller than yours..it's kind of a three quarters tree, if there is such a thing...too big to be tabletop and too small to be on the floor so we set it on a little stand and draped the stand. It looks nice. We bought old fashioned bubble lights - straight out of our childhoods. Got them at Benny's in RI when we were last at Johanna & Mike's. Maurie says these are how lava lamps originated...ha! ha! But seriously, they do bring back memories for us.
We're off to the Mount Washington hotel tomorrow...a belated birthday for Maurie...we had to reschedule since he was too sick to go in November...but this is great because they are all decorated for Christmas. As for weather they are having and will continue to have accumulating snow showers over the next few days...we'd love to do a sleigh ride. We'll see. So we're back on Friday.
Cheerio!

Congratulations on the good slaes day...that's terrific! I'm sorry you arent' sleeping, not very helpful when you are in pain that's for sure. I do have a hint for pain that ibuprofen alone isn't touching...
Try a Mortin shot and a Tylenol chaser...800mg of Motrin and then take an extra strength dose of Tylenol right after (only to be repeated every 8 hours...and I wouldn't suggest alcohol because your liver has enough to do processing the Tylenol!). I had a tooth pulled a month ago and I didn't want the fog from Percocet, so I tried this and it worked wonders...
Anyhow, I hope you feel better!
:-)
