Blog Entry #1: 'Tis the Season to... ?
I'm hoggin' the blog today :) I came up with two fun blog entries that I thought people would enjoy participating in. Even if you're too busy to respond, at least think about both entries, because the thought counts.
Christmas is fast approaching. This is the one season out of the year where old traditions come alive and new ones are made. Consider your holiday traditions. What is one tradition or event that holds a special place in your heart? You don't necessarily need to explain WHY it's special to you (unless you'd like to) but you do have to name the tradition, and be specific.
Here is my favorite tradition: setting up the Manger. Every year I set up the Manger, and I set the figurines up in a different way, as though each year they are there for the first time. I love this tradition because it's a special addition to an already wonderful season.

Hum...very thought-provoking...my favorite tradition used to be putting up the Merz ornament but now that the ornament is traveling from house to house - which is nice too - I'd have to say that decorating the tree is my favorite tradition - and that's because as I unpack each ornament I think back to Chrismas' past, or maybe where the ornament came from, etc. The Christmas tree is kind of like my charm bracelet - every ornament means something!

speaking of the Merz ornament...who has it this year?? I've never had a chance to hang it.
Great post kat!
I have Mom to thank for many of the traditions I continue to do every year. The 2 that stand out the most are new PJ's to wear Christmas Eve and making a yummy Christmas Morning Breakfast. Now that Ellie is getting older I want to start some new traditions, hopefully next year or the year after I want to start the "Nutcracker" tradition- I have great memories of when we used to go as a family, and then driving home down Comm Ave and seeing all the Christmas trees in the windows of those gorgeous brownstones..
Nice post Kat- thanks.

Wow, what a great question to reflect on. I used to love to put up our fake christmas tree with my Mom. And then before the ornaments went on I used to play with my GI Joe figures in the tree. I loved that!
We also used to drive around and look at the different lights that people put up on their houses. That was always fun. My Mom would make us snakcs and hot chocolate and we'd drive around being wow'ed by the next neighborhood's lights.
And presently a new favorite is our Holiday brekafast at the house.
Thanks Kat!
