Never trust an ad by its words... :)

My friend Maria sent this to me---I got such a kick out of it I thought you all would appreciate it, too. :)

An ad posted in the Atlanta Daily Journal:

SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm
a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy, I'll be waiting....

Over 15,000 men called the ad and found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week-old black Labrador Retriever.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hair's Johnny...

In the words of Nancy Kerrigan, "WHYYYYY?!"

I guess $52 million and the chance to live in one of the greatest cities on the planet is why, but still.

There's going to have to be extra security the first game he plays here as a Yankee.

Alls I gotta say is "GO PATS!"

Winter Visitors

We just returned from lunch at the Common Man in Ashland. It was warm and cozy inside, gaily decorated for Christmas with holiday music softly playing in the background and through the window wreaths we were able to watch the snow gently falling (a brief snow squall). Talk about a picture perfect scene!

We also had some winter visitors today. See the attached pictures along with a shot of our wood stove keeping us warm and cozy at home.

Mike and I just finished putting up our tree. A nice nite with about a foot of snow on the ground.
Talk soon.

"Oh Christmas Tree".....

Here's a picture of our tree. We used the star from Sarah's Baby Einstein gym...we figured she would like it and we get a kick out of it too.
If we could only get it to play Christmas music we'd be all set!

Christmas Tree update

Hey guys,

Not sure if everyone has their tree up yet. Our's is going up this weekend. I was thinking that when we all have our tree's up we can take a picture of it and we can all post our tree in the same blog entry. A sort of Christmas decorated blog forest. How's that sound?

Holiday Gift Fair Pics

Hey there!

I am attaching two pics from Monday's Holiday Gift Fair at the Citizen's Bank Headquarters building. It went really well, and today's show at Bryant University went really well too. So that concludes the first official XO Events Holiday Gift Fair season- onto my winter projects!

One pic is a random crowd shot, and the other pic is the table belonging to our favorite family bookseller. ;)

Random ramblings from a bored Meow

How's the day going for you all? Mine? Not bad, actually. Best Tuesday sales-wise since I opened. Go figure. How were your weekends? Mine was a blur. Oh, no, I remember now: I had to (reluctantly) take a muscle relaxant for my neck and shoulder pain Saturday night because 4 Advil twice a day wasn't helping at ALL, and I didn't wake up until 11:30am on Sunday. I open the store at 10 on Sundays. I didn't get in until 12:15pm. OOPS. But it did wonders for the pain. Two weeks later and finally it's a little bit better! I just love getting rear-ended.

How badly I wanted snow today!!! Instead, I get blue skies and sun??? How is it that in the 21st century, weather forecasters are so chronically WRONG?!?!? I wanted to be closed, because I haven't had a day off in two weeks and I need one. Yesterday was another gift fair for J (she is a natural at these!) and I pulled in another $100, which I was happy about, but I am tired and look forward to next Monday's day off.

We got our Christmas tree Sunday afternoon after I closed. We went to a tree farm. Don't know about you, but we didn't grasp the idea of a tree farm right away. Until Brian went to the worker and said, "Okay, we're all set." And the guy said, "Get a saw and start cutting." Ohhhhh....so THAT'S a tree farm...I've been spoiled with the VFW's perfectly-cut trees! We started to put it up last night. "Started" being the operative word. It took us an hour and 45 minutes to A.) Give the tree a serious hair-cut and B.) Get the lights on because half were broken (damn Wal-Mart!) and so we had to improvise with the ones we had left. Cue "The 12 Pains of Christmas." By 9:15 we were too tired to continue, so tonight we are finishing decorating. Maybe we'll post pictures if we get it decoratd by Christmas.

And then we were woken up before dawn by the insistent and oh-so-repetitive gnawing by a little RODENT in our bedroom wall....And then the rolling of a nut all through the walls at said-ungodly hour. We have an exterminator coming on Friday.

Anyway, that is the fun and excitement that is my life today!

Because it's lunch time...

I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of our Thanksgiving dinner at David and Jacqui's. Look at that mountain of mashed potatoes! I'm hankering for this meal now.
Enjoy!

Semi-humorous quote of the day (at least I'm trying to look on the bright side.)

So, I was written up in a publication that is sent to all the towns in Worcester County and Northeastern Connecticut. *Sigh* Read what they wrote:

"Also at 283 Route 169 can be found Tell-Tale Books. The shop offers new and gently used stationery and more."

New and gently used stationery. So at Tell-Tale Books you can get paper that *WAS* written on, but then erased...and then available for re-sale.

What are these people THINKING??? Doesn't anyone PROOF anymore??!?!

And of course I'm thinking, "Well, maybe no one will notice." This was about five minutes before my wonderful next-door neighbors at Bebbington's Hair & Gift Emporium come in laughing and asking me to show them some of my "new & gently used stationery."

*SIGH*
