Feliz New Year!

Happy 2006 everyone! Hope you all had fun ringing in the New Year.

On New Year's Eve Jon, the boys, and myself had lunch at Chef Chang's. And we had a feast, which included Peking duck and noodles for good luck. Jack & Will didn't eat the duck itself, but liked the pancakes that went along with it. Jack stuffed his with rice, like a burrito. (Jack's fusion food!) He even painted a masterpiece with hoisen sauce on my pancake, but too bad I had to eat it (yeah, I felt really bad about that...yeah, right!) When the duck came to the table Will was practically leaping for it. He couldn't eat it, but we gave him some of the pancake and he loved it. That's our boy!

Later that night, after the boys went to bed, Jon made a candlelit dinner...of leftover Chinese food. We downed it with two bottles of wine. We were so into the wine that we almost didn't make it to ringing in the new year. Just as I turned the TV on I heard Dick Clark say, "2...1...Happy New Year!".

And speaking of Dick Clark, wow. Good for him for staying strong and going on TV. Still, it was sad to hear him speak. But my sadness quickly turned to laughter when I saw Ryan Seacrest interview Mariah Carey. Was she drunk? Did she booze it up to stay warm in the figure skating outfit she wore in 30 degree weather? She maybe kookie, but I still love her.

So that's how we rang in 2006. What did you all do?

Hope this year brings us all lots of happiness, laughter, prosperity, and continued good health. (Sorry if I sound like a fortune cookie. I've been eating left over Chinese food for days :)

I bet the folks at CC's made a big fuss over the boys! Were they glad to see you? I can just see Jack and Will scoffing down Chinese food in a few years!!

Well the folks at High Meadow really know how to party!!! We picked up Chinese food about 7:15 and ate our fill. Then we just kicked back and relaxed. Finally, we had a champagne toast about 10:15 and then Cherie, Mike, Johanna, Maurie and I went to bed!!! J&M didn't sleep well the previous night since Ellie had a cold and didn't settle down well. As for Cherie, Maurie and I...well we were pooped too...real party animals! We even left a voice mail on Kat's phone telling her not to call us at midnight since we'd all be asleep. Since I'd talked to Jon earlier, no such message was necessary.

The next morning we went to the Inn for brunch and that was a lot of fun. Larry was there and got to visit with J&Mike and see Ellie. A great way to start the New Year!! They'd had a real bash at the Inn the night before. Maybe some year, you can all come up and we'll party at the Inn!!! Just have to get a babysitter for the kids...

No snow up here today at all...not even a flake!!! But it sounds like you all are getting hit big time! It's great we moved to NH just in time to avoid all the storms!!!

Stay dry and warm.

Our New Year's: We had a habor view room on the 11th floor at the Hyatt. (Maria and Dom weren't so lucky; they had an airport view on the 10th floor, despite a request for a harbor view) We had drinks in the lounge before dinner, and then enjoyed an extensive buffet dinner and desert with cappuachino (spelling?)

Then, after that, we went back to the lounge for another drink. At 11:40, with sleepiness quickly setting in, we all decided to go to our room to view the fireworks because the lounge was mobbed with everyone from women who looked like they were at their 1984 senior prom, literally, to the cocaine-addicted Don Johnson wannabe dancing to his own music at the bar....and then there were the few normal people thrown in there for good measure.

Anyway, we went to our room and had a front-row seat, literally, to the fireworks. The barge was directly in front of us, and so with the lights off and the couch turned to the window, we watched the fireworks display in a way none of us had ever experienced. It was really amazing.

Then we ordered room service (club sandwiches all around) and at 1:00am, Maria and Dom decided to go down to their room--of course, not before an oh-so-eloquent comment was uttered by Dom after he saw Mariah Carey talking to Ryan Seacrest--

Quoteth Mr. Morabito: "She's got the best rack in Hollywood."

And with that, our New Year's was complete.
